WATCH: ‘It’ anime clip by movie fans becomes instant internet hit

A netizen created a short animated clip of an anime version of Pennywise the dancing clown from “It”. Fans of the movie and books seemed to enjoy it.

The artwork for the clip was created by comic artist Mike Anderson. It depicted an early scene in the movie where Pennywise encountered Georgie.

Anderson then shared his work on his Twitter account. He made a shoutout for an anime or comic version of “It” to be made, and even offered to work on such a project if possible.

Apart from the art style, Anderson added some yellow subtitles to his work, making it look like a screenshot from an actual animation clip.

Anderson got the next best thing when netizen Kev Chelios took notice of his work. After adding some simple animations on Anderson’s art piece, Chelios also included some Japanese voice over which he did himself. The end result looks like a preview for a yet-to-be released anime trailer.

Then again, an anime series would be subject to some common anime occurrences, like characters over-explaining things.

Netflix may still consider taking on the project as this netizen suggests.

Since Chelios tweeted his 15-second clip, it has gotten over 200,000 likes and almost 140,000 retweets.

A sequel for the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” has been scheduled for release on September 2019. JB
