If you’re an avid social media user, chances are you’ve heard—or even danced to the beat—of the now viral “Baby Shark” song.
The sweeping children’s dance craze gave birth to the #BabySharkChallenge, where netizens uploaded several versions of the now famous tune.
No stranger to creating parodies of viral videos, Filipino-Canadian comedian Mikey Bustos shared his own interpretation—but with an “educational” twist.
As seen on a clip uploaded on YouTube, Bustos claimed that the song “needed more substance.”
Instead of the song’s catchy lyrics, the 36-year-old singer and YouTube personality came up with a tongue-twisting version, sharing scientific facts about the marine predator.
“Baby-sharks hatch from an egg case if they’re a species that’s oviparous, others they’re born from eggs within Mommy Sharks,” Bustos sang.
The former Canadian Idol finalist even managed to share that “mommy sharks” are bigger than “daddy sharks” while gyrating to the tune.
But perhaps his strongest message came near the end, when he advocated stopping illegal fishing for the fins of the majestic creatures.
After performing for one and a half minutes, his miniature self, “Baby Miguel,” didn’t seem amused, claiming he liked the original better.
As of this writing, the video has over 45,000 views on YouTube. /ra
