A humorous tweet has Japanese mothers online nodding their heads in agreement, when a manga artist compared raising children to being a referee in a professional wrestling match.

Manga comic illustrator Yukari Takinami wanted to shed some light on how the Japanese idealize motherhood as opposed to what it’s really like. His post suggests that a mother can only hope to make sense of things like how a referee tries to make the right calls inside a wrestling ring.

The tweet reads, “Left: what people imagine moms do when spending time with their kids. Right: reality.”

A few mothers replied their agreement and even shared some of their childrearing stories.

“My son managed to hurt one of my ribs and he’s not even two.”

“This! My daughter just keeps running around and jumping and running some more!”

“My child headbutted, I then heard a crunching sound. Later I found out my nose was broken. It’s still crooked to this day.”

Outside Japan, some mothers may also agree that motherhood would require some level of physical fitness to keep up with energetic kids. JB
