A Chinese woman had to get refunds for her iPhone X because its Face ID system kept allowing her colleague to unlock her phone.

According to a report by Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation via South China Morning Post, the woman identified as Yan initially contacted Apple support to complain about the problem.

Since the staff she spoke with would not believe her, Yan visited a store bringing along her colleague, who demonstrated that she can unlock the iPhone despite it being registered to Yan.

Store staff assumed a faulty camera was the cause, then gave Yan a full refund. Yan purchased another iPhone X yet the issue persisted.

This prompted another store visit and another refund. The report did not state whether Yan purchased a third iPhone or simply went with another smartphone brand.

The iPhone X’s Face ID system previously caught the attention of netizens when a woman’s son successfully unlocked her device with little effort. A security firm also reported successfully “hacking” the Face ID system through the use of a custom-made mask. Alfred Bayle/JB
