The Spheres, Amazon’s mini-rainforest work space in Seattle, will be opening its doors to give employees a breath of fresh air within the city.
According to an Amazon statement, The Spheres is home to 40,000 plants from 400 species and 30 different countries.
The three connected spheres can be found within Amazon’s campus in downtown Seattle. The largest sphere is 90 feet high and 130 feet wide.
Apart from the wide selection of plants, a special 55-foot-tall tree, nicknamed “Rubi,” was picked up from a southern California farm and relocated somewhere within the structure.
The company created The Spheres to provide their employees with a getaway from their usual office desks. The greenery offers calmer surroundings where people can de-stress. The facility also has meeting rooms, whose less stressful environment may boost creativity.
Among the attractions within The Spheres are a four-story “living wall” of plants, waterfalls and various trees.
Apart from a venue for employees to relax in, The Spheres will also be open for Seattle community tours. Local schools and universities may book the facilities for educational purposes. /ra
