The aptly named miniature desktop computer Mac mini may get an update before the year ends.
First introduced in 2005, the mini-ITX desktop computer series received its last update in 2014 and has since been waiting for a much-needed refresh.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities believes 2018 may be the year that a new version of the Mac mini will roll out into the market, according to his latest research note as reported by 9to5Mac.
He predicted the Mac mini upgrade may come out alongside the new models MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac with “significant display-performance upgrades.”
Kuo’s research also predicted the release of 5.8- and 6.5-inch OLED screen iPhones, a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Face ID, a new low-priced notebook that’s not a MacBook Air, Apple watches with larger screens, and mass-production models of AirPower and updated AirPods.
As usual with Apple, the company continued to stay quiet on what kinds of surprises they have for release this fall. Nonetheless, fans of the Mac mini may have something to look forward to in Apple’s 2018 lineup of products. Alfred Bayle /ra
