Twitter has confirmed plans to adjust its feature set that will let users view tweets in chronological order without “best tweets” notices.

The social media platform made the announcement through a tweet on the Twitter Support account on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The six-part tweet mentioned feedback from users to include a feature that will allow them to easily switch between the “best tweets first” and the more traditional reverse chronological timeline.

“We’re working on providing you with an easily accessible way to switch between a timeline of Tweets that are most relevant for you and a timeline of the latest Tweets. You’ll see us test this in the coming weeks,” the statement said.

Until the update rolls out in its entirety, developers adjusted the “Show the best Tweets first” setting to let users see their timeline in chronological order when turned off. The previous setting would still show “In case you missed it” and recommended tweets from users not followed.

Meanwhile, game developer Emma (@EmmaKinema) shared a workaround to “clean up” the tweet timeline. She added the lines “suggest _recycled_tweet_inline” and “suggest_activity_tweet” in the list of muted words.

Emma claimed to have found the workaround from another tweet, but couldn’t find it again because it was muted by the workaround.

Twitter launched the “best tweets” feature in early 2016. It used an algorithm that tried to guess what tweets a user is most likely to care about. While some users found the feature useful, others asked for an option to revert to the traditional chronologically arranged timeline.  /ra
