When people freaked out as video streaming site YouTube went down on Tuesday, Oct. 17, Pornhub may have benefitted from the temporary outage.
The porn site showed data that its numbers skyrocketed by 12 percent by 9 p.m. Eastern Time in the United States. It then reached 21 percent “above daily averages” an hour later.
Pornhub said the surge was a “significant increase by millions of additional viewers during Pornhub’s peak evening hours.”
But once YouTube went back, Pornhub experienced a 2 to 4 percent drop in traffic.
The Twitter account of Team Youtube (@TeamYouTube) stated that the site encountered technical difficulties which prevented users from watching videos. Soon after the restoration, users still complained that some of its services such as YouTube Music and YouTube TV were not working properly. JB
