Facebook resolves issues on software updates

Facebook on Tuesday said that the issues experienced by some Facebook users due to “software updates,” have been resolved.

A report by American technology and news and media network  The Verge on Tuesday said Facebook users have reported that some “years-old Messenger threads” have “resurfaced automatically without context or explanation.”

According to the report, some users have “expressed concern that the bug could resurface conversations or past histories they would much rather forget.”

The report noted that Facebook confirmed that there were indeed older messages that were “treated as new, unread ones and popping up in the Messenger tab” on the social media website.

But a statement released by Facebook on Tuesday said that the issue “has been fully resolved.”

“Earlier today, some people may have experienced Facebook resending older messages. The issue, caused by software updates, has been fully resolved. We’re sorry for any inconvenience,” it said.

Facebook users have also experienced multiple glitches in the past such as the 10-minute disruption of Facebook services in the Asia Pacific and parts of North America and the unblocking of blocked users on the social media platform and Messenger. /ee
