Uber’s 2nd Center of Excellence in Asia opens in Pampanga

MABALACAT, Philippines — Officials of the transportation network company Uber Asia Pacific on Thursday inaugurated the Clark Center of Excellence (COE), its second site in Asia, at the Skytech IT Park Building here.

It was named after the closest port of entry following a tradition in Uber offices around the world and provides an easy landmark reference for worldwide operations.

The inauguration of the $1.5-million facility located along the McArthur Highway was led by Troy Stevenson, Global Head of Uber Community Operations.

Stevenson said the investment reaffirms their commitment to the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region.

“The Philippines is already home to Uber’s largest Center of Excellence globally, and I’m delighted to unveil our second Center today, in Clark,” he said.

Wen-Szu Lin, Uber director of Community Operations in Asia Pacific, said their site here complements the company’s existing Manila COE, which is the company’s first site in the Asia Pacific.

“We’re pleased to be able to create new economic opportunities for talented professionals with the goal to more than double the team in Clark by the end of the year while expanding our global support services from these strategic locations,” Lin said.

Stevenson and Lin were joined by other Uber officials, including Ricco Gamboa, Clark COE site leader, and Ann Lavin, Uber senior director of Public Policy and Government Relations in Asia Pacific.

An Uber COE is designed to provide specialized support for critical incidents that require immediate attention, employing teams of trusted advisors to support customers across the Asia Pacific region and around the world.

The 2,919-square meter facility will employ 165 customer service specialists who will provide world-class support to the Uber community. /ee
