SHANGHAI— Lawyers say a Shanghai court has suspended proceedings in a lawsuit by a Chinese electronics maker against Apple Inc. over use of the iPad trademark in China.

A lawyer representing Shenzhen Proview Technology, Ma Dongxiao, says Thursday that the court stopped proceedings, citing a pending case on the trademark fight in a higher court.

The Guangdong High Court is due to hear an appeal by Apple on February 29 against a lower court decision that favored Proview.
