Sony launched a crowdfunding campaign earlier this week for a pocket air conditioner called the Reon Pocket.
The handheld device, which can function both as a personal air conditioner and heater, uses thermoelectric cooling and Bluetooth technology. According to Gizmodo, “You basically slip it into a special undershirt with a pocket at the base of the neck, connect to an app, hit a button and wham. Instant cooling. Or heating.”
In terms of specs, the Reon Pocket is compatible with iOS and Android operating systems. It has a battery life of 24 hours and takes two hours to charge via a USB-C cable. Two versions will be available, the Reon Pocket Standard and the Reon Pocket Lite; the former weighs in at three grams.
The crowdfunding campaign was launched last Sunday, July 21, and as of July 26, it has reached 52% of its goal. If Sony reaches its crowdfunding goal and the Reon Pocket makes it to the market (only in Japan), it is expected to cost about $117 (almost P6,000) and $175 (about P9,000), depending on the model.
