Media Display Solutions delivers high-performance LED for Asia’s 1st Portal in BGC
The launch of Portals Organization’s first Asian installation in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) marks a major milestone in immersive public technology, with Media Display Solutions (MDS) providing the advanced LED technology that makes real-time global interaction possible.
Unlike traditional digital billboards or video walls, the Portal relies on precision LED engineering to create a seamless, life-sized visual plane capable of sustained, low-latency live streaming. MDS’ LED system was designed to operate continuously in an outdoor urban environment, balancing brightness, pixel density, and color accuracy to maintain realism throughout the day.

“The LED display isn’t just showing content — it’s enabling presence and experience,” said Wency Adrielyne Chavez-Tan, Business Unit Head of MDS under the marketing powerhouse United Neon Media Group. Tan adds that their team paid special attention to latency, resolution and calibration because even small delays or distortions can break the illusion of face-to-face connection.Portals.org’s founder Benediktas Gylys said that Portals come to life through people – a global community willing to look at one another with openness and curiosity.
“As the Philippines welcomes its own Portal, it channels the energy of a country shaped by centuries of resilience, exchange and creativity. Manila’s cultural depth, warmth and character strengthen the shared vision we are building.” Gylys said.
For his part, Bonifacio Global City Chief Operating Officer Enrique B. Manuel Jr. said that the BGC Portal hopes to bring people together, celebrating culture, diversity, and connections and serve as a new space for engagement.
Meanwhile, Tan emphasized that the success of the Portals project depends heavily on the technology behind it. She adds that LED system has to meet global standards while performing in a busy urban setting like BGC. For the BGC Portal, MDS used an Outdoor LED P1.9 mm pixel pitch which is much finer than typical outdoor LED screens to achieve a more realistic and detailed visual effect.
With its modular LED architecture, MDS was able to tailor the installation to Portals.org’s international specifications while adapting it to local site requirements. The collaboration underscores the increasing role of advanced display technology in enhancing urban experiences and positioning Philippine cities as hubs for innovation and cultural exchange.
Tan said that planning to implementation took 2 years and was executed in close collaboration with the technical experts of Portals.org.Portals Engineer Nicholas Perillo adds that the “Portals are windows to the world and the screen is one of the most important elements in making that illusion feel real.” He lauded United Neon and MDS’ work on the BGC Portal screen with its finer pixel pitch, high contrast ratio and coated GOB surface, that best fit the up close and personal experience the Portal is designed for.
The BGC portal joins a growing global network that includes Portal partners in Vilnius (Lithuania), Lublin (Poland), Dublin (Ireland), Philadelphia (United States) and Ipswich (United Kingdom). Soon, more Portals will be launched in Piauí (Brazil) and in a still unspecified country.
