Philippines Included in Plants vs Zombies 3 Early Access

MANILA, Philippines –   Electronic Arts (EA) and PopCap Games have officially launched the early access version of Plants vs. Zombies 3: Evolved in select regions, including the Philippines, as part of a phased global rollout that began this April 8 2026.

According to EA and official community updates, the early access release is currently available in Ireland and the Philippines, with additional regions expected to follow in the coming months ahead of a full global launch. 

The game is accessible on mobile devices, allowing Filipino players to experience the latest installment of the long-running tower defense franchise ahead of its worldwide release.

The game marks the return of Plants vs. Zombies 3 after multiple development revisions over the years. First launched as a mobile strategy franchise by PopCap Games, the series is known for its lane-based defense system where players use plants to stop waves of zombies led by Dr. Zomboss.

Gameplay Updates and Features in PvZ3

EA has introduced several changes in Plants vs. Zombies 3: Evolved aimed at improving gameplay depth, pacing, and overall player experience.

Levels have been redesigned to be longer and more meaningful, giving upgraded “hyper-hybridized” Tier 3 plants more time to be used in battles. The new design also allows players to gradually build mastery through more structured progression and introductions of new mechanics.

The game’s visuals and focus have also been adjusted, shifting the main battlefield to the player’s lawn. This removes broader neighborhood visuals and centers all action on yard-based combat. Avatars have also been removed, shifting the focus fully to plants as the main visual and gameplay highlight.

For gameplay systems, the early access version features classic lane-based tower defense mechanics, an expanded plant merging system for more strategic combinations, and the return of Dr. Zomboss as the main antagonist, who continues his attempt to steal Crazy Dave’s meteorite used for merging plants.

Development is still ongoing under EA’s internal “Sunflower Society,” which monitors early access feedback to refine difficulty balance, improve performance, and enhance the overall gameplay experience. (By Rich Longakit, INQUIRER.net Intern)
