HP unveils cloud quick start kit

MANILA, Philippines—International technology firm Hewlett-Packard unveiled its HP CloudSystem Quick Start Kit to help Filipino companies accelerate their adoption of cloud services.

“New HP Converged Cloud offerings for  [Asia-Pacific and Japan region] include HP CloudSystem Quick Start Kit and HP CloudSystem Solutions that enable chief information officers to quickly embrace these delivery models without adding complexity and risk to their environments,” HP said in a statement.

James Jackson, HP Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Solutions, said during the launch that the Quick Start Kit was easier to manage and less complex.

It allows companies to “create a tailored, pre-configured cloud infrastructure that meets [their] specific business needs,” HP said.

The Quick Start Kit integrates HP CloudSystem servers, HP 3PAR F-Class storage, and a wide range of services and options, making it a complete all-in-one package.

It will “help [businesses] use our technology to deliver applications faster” Jackson told reporters in a roundtable discussion during the launch.

“Clients can provision infrastructure and applications for physical and virtual environments in just minutes,” HP said. “With built-in infrastructure life-cycle management, clients realize increased business agility and reduced total cost of ownership by up to 56 percent.”

Ryan Guadalquiver, HP Philippines managing director, said that the Quick Start Kit was “low-cost” and “faster to deploy” compared to standard servers and storage infrastructure.

Its services and applications include HP’s CloudSystem Solutions which are applications that run on the cloud and are used by many different industries.

“HP Dealer Management System with Microsoft Dynamics enables auto dealers to improve efficiency of operations with real-time information on sales and services,” HP said.

Applications for financial services such as banks “enables [them] to automate critical functions to improve responsiveness to customer needs” and can also “validate, monitor, and store all transactions to improve financial control and compliance.”

In the field of energy production and exploration, it “allows remote upstream oil and gas teams to collaborate on resource exploration using rich graphical user interfaces.”

Governments can also benefit from applications that “provide real-time information to improve management of every aspect of operations and enable e-government services for citizens.”

“These solutions address workloads vital to a broad range of businesses, including email, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and business intelligence,” HP said.
