MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines has been a “critical element” of the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services in serving the fast growing Asia Pacific region and its global clientele.
“If you look across the globe, clearly the Asia Pacific region has some of the largest growth areas,” Bruce Dahlgren, Hewlett-Packard Enteprise Services senior vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, said in an interview after the inauguration of their third facility in Metro Manila Tuesday.
“[The Philippines] being a center right here in the region gives us a lot of opportunity to capitalize on that [growth,]” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll continue to see growth in the region and here in the Philippines,” Dahlgren added.
Hewlett-Packard Philippines Corp. began in the country in 1994 and in 2003 opened their first HP Global Delivery Center in the Philippines (GDCP) in Makati City that “enables the delivery of Applications, IT Outsourcing, and Business Process Outsourcing services to hundreds of clients around the world.”
They later expanded with another GDCP in Taguig and the third and newest in Two Cyberpod Centris at the corner of Quezon Boulevard and EDSA, Quezon City.
Nathalie Bernardo, Center Director of HP Philippines ITO Global Delivery Hub Philippines and China, said the company continues to see the country as a very good place for investment and continued expansion.
“We will continue to invest in the Philippines and the Philippines is important to HP,” Bernardo said in her opening remarks during the inauguration.
Dahlgren said the Philippines is a key asset for serving their clients who are all over the world.
“This center is a critical element for the capability [of HP] that supports our global companies,” he said. “This is one of the key assets for HP, it can help [us] as all markets around the world continue to expand.”
“Put past track record and successes with investment, you see a lot of capabilities here for skills in Manila, and as our business continues to grow in the region, really globally, we’d like to see the Philippine continue to contribute,” Dahlgren said.
He cited the vibrant society and the workforce in the Philippines as one of the factors that helped the HP Global Delivery Center in the country achieve success and last for 10 years.
“I’m very encouraged with the capabilities and the energy, when I come here, you could just feel the vibrant society and a great HP workforce. We’re counting on big things from the group and it’s exciting to celebrate our 10 year anniversary,” Dahlgren said.
“I’ve visited customers literally all over the world that use Manila, and that’s one of our capabilities as a Global Delivery Center. So when you see the leadership, see the capabilities, and get positive feedback from customers, it’s a good combination,” he said.
