INQUIRER.net hits 1M likes on Facebook
MANILA, Philippines – “You like me, right now, you like me!”
Pardon us (all of us, here on Inquirer.net) if we momentarily sound like Sally Field, famously receiving her Oscar for Best Actress in 1985. But at 5:03 pm on Monday, September 15, the official Facebook account of the Inquirer Group got its one-millionth like. The account, at facebook.com/inquirerdotnet, is maintained by Inquirer.net, the leading Philippine website.
Article continues after this advertisementWe are not the first Philippine brand to reach this milestone, nor even the first media organization. (We are, however, the first newspaper group to do so. Inquirer.net is the online operation of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the country’s leading newspaper.) But we are happy that the growth of the audience in Facebook was organic—that is, done the old-fashioned way.
Even more gratifying to us, many of the Facebookers who liked the account signed up for notifications, and their response whenever we spread a story or an image through Facebook has been large and immediate.
From all of us in INQUIRER.net, a MILLION thanks to all of you.
