MANILA, Philippines—A jihadist from New Zealand who is allegedly a member of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) has mistakenly tweeted his location in Syria.

Mohammad Daniel or Abdul Rahman, who is formerly known as Mark John Taylor, was able to make his location available after failing to disable the location service option on his Twitter account (@M_Taylor_Kiwi), reported the Canada-based intelligence group iBrabo last Tuesday.

The security group said that Taylor sent out 45 tweets which revealed his location in Syria starting from mid-October to December.

Examining (Daniel’s) overall Twitter broadcast activities, we see that in October of this year he was fighting with ISIS in Kafar Roma, an area which the Syrian Army confirmed had been occupied by pockets of foreign fighters from ISIS,” iBrabo said.

The jihadist has since moved from various locations including a house in the Isis stronghold in Al Taqbah, Syria where he stayed for seven days last December.

“(Daniel) eager for the fame of being a violent jihadist took to Twitter to get attention for his exploits. His statements and twitter missteps have solidified his involvement with ISIS and will provide the evidence should he ever try to return to New Zealand,” iBrabo added.

He deleted his tweets but were screen grabbed by iBrabo. His Twitter account was then suspended.

According to a report from New Zealand daily New Zealand Herald, Daniel was barred from traveling overseas when he was arrested in Pakistan in 2009 following his attempt to gain access to Al-Qaeda and Taliban near the Afghanistan border.

Daniel went to Syria last June from Turkey.
