Anything for a hot bowl of ramen.

A “wild” commercial of Nissin Chikin ramen, an original Japanese instant noodle since 1958, has awed and amazed social media.

In the three-minute advertisement, a flying drone snatches a ramen bowl of a Japanese teenager wearing a skimpy uniform. To claim her meal, she has to perform several parkour stunts, combat a sumo wrestler, and armor herself with a samurai suit. As noticed, Japanese cultural trends since the 1950s were portrayed in the video, which has already aggregated nearly 1 million views since its posting on July 25.

These historic elements are coupled with newest technological advancements like drones, Rube Goldbergian visual stunts, and parkour stunts.

Despite the bizarre scenes and breathtaking action moves, the commercial conveys a passionate message to its customers–ramen is “not a trend, but a taste that is loved.” As advances in technology progressed for decades, the simple taste of their product remained unchanged.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
