Studio Ghibli hiring digital painters

MANILA, Philippines – Studio Ghibli – the acclaimed Japanese animated film studio behind Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Howl’s Moving Castle – is now hiring digital painter staff, as posted on its website on April 14.

The studio said that applicants should be 20 years old or older, must be living in Japan by the end of May, speaks Japanese, and have extensive experience in 2D animation.

Once hired, new digital painters will be able to work directly with Hayao Miyazaki, one of Japan’s greatest animation directors. They will be responsible for putting the finishing touches on the upcoming animated movie when the job starts on October 1, 2019,

The salary depends on the artist’ experience, with a base pay of 250,000 yen per month, while the contract may last, according to the studio, at least one and a half year.

Studio Ghibli will accept applications until May 31, 2019.
