DSWD uses YouTube to invite volunteers for relief work

By

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development uses social media to invite volunteers to help in relief efforts for victims of massive flooding.

On its official account on Twitter, @DSWD, the department posted a link to the Official Gazette’s YouTube account showing a 49-second video presentation of volunteers from the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and youth volunteers packing relief goods at the DSWD’s National Resource Operations Center in Chapel Road, Pasay City.

The video was uploaded August 7. “The Department of Social Welfare and Development welcomes volunteers to assist in relief efforts for the benefit of those affected by the August 6-8, 2012 southwestern monsoon. They have been answered by persons from all walks of life,” the video’s description read.

DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman was also seen in the video helping in relief operations and calling for volunteers.

Interested volunteers may contact DSWD-NROC 8528081.
