Bloatware cutdown possible in next Windows 10 update
If there’s one thing that many people find annoying, it’s unnecessary software that come with IT-related purchases, or bloatware. The good news is that Microsoft may be giving users the ability to remove some of the bloatware that come pre-installed with Windows 10.
A new Windows 10 preview (version 14936) is scheduled to be put out for testing and it comes with an uninstall option for some of the OS’ system apps. The uninstall button was previously grayed-out, reports TechRadar.
Through the preview, users will currently be able to uninstall five of Microsoft’s default apps, namely Mail and Calendar, Calculator, Groove Music, Maps and Weather.
ADVERTISEMENTHopefully by the time the full update rolls out, more default applications will be given the uninstall option. However, it is unlikely that Cortana will be one of these applications, given that the virtual assistant has already been integrated into the operating system’s search function.
Also worth noting is that the previous build 14926 update has prevented previously uninstalled apps from being reinstalled together with new updates. Alfred Bayle
