Snap Inc. published its first annual diversity report on Wednesday, July 29, which discloses how white, male employees make up the majority of the company workforce.

Shortly after Facebook published its annual diversity report showing a slow progression towards equal racial and gender representation in the company over the years, Snap Inc. has released its very first diversity report exposing its severe inclusivity shortcomings.

While people who identify as women made up just 32.9% of Snap’s global workforce in 2019, they make up only 16.1% of the technology workforce and just 6.7% of these teams’ leadership.

People identifying as Black made up just 4.1% of the U.S. workforce, and Hispanic/Latinx people made up just 6.8%. 70.4 percent of the company’s leadership is white; 91% of those in tech roles are either white or Asian.

Because minority groups are so poorly represented in Snap Inc., the company promises that “we are determined to do what it takes to improve these numbers, because behind the numbers are real people.” It added that “At Snap, creating a fairer, more inclusive, and truly anti-racist culture is everyone’s job.”
