Starbucks Opens NFT Community And Web3 Loyalty Program To Beta Testers

08:56 AM December 09, 2022

The world’s leading coffee chain recently expanded to the blockchain. Today, Starbucks opens an NFT community and Web 3.0 program to beta testers.

Odyssey will be a new addition to the existing Starbucks Rewards program. The program will present various challenges that rewards winners with digital collectibles called “journey stamps.”

Then, Starbucks fans could purchase and sell these stamps from each other on the Odyssey NFT marketplace that will open in 2023.

Coffee lovers may access Starbucks Odyssey by creating a Starbucks Rewards account. Once logged in, members may participate in its “journeys.”

FEATURED STORIES

These involve interactive games and videos that teach about coffee and the history of Starbucks. Also, members may complete some journeys by purchasing specific products.

Then, they must scan their Starbucks Rewards card to notify the Odyssey feature. Completing these challenges would reward these people with member points.

They would earn Stamps once they accumulate around 500 points. Stamps are coffee-themed NFTs that unlock special experiences.

NFTs or non-fungible tokens record the ownership of physical and digital objects on a blockchain. Meanwhile, blockchains are decentralized computer networks that use cryptocurrencies.

The special experiences provide three levels of benefits. The lower-end experiences include virtual classes on coffee recipes and access to unique art.

Eventually, members could unlock real-world experiences as they earn more points and NFTs. For example, they could receive invitations to special trips to Starbucks Reserve Roasteries and the Starbucks Hacienda Alsacia coffee farm.

Member points reset at the end of the year, but members keep their Stamps. Then, they could print the NFTs on their Starbucks cards and other merchandise.

Next year, Odyssey members could buy and sell Stamps to each other. Starbucks will launch the Odyssey NFT marketplace powered by Nifty Gateway in 2023.

You could join the best testing as Starbucks opens an NFT community program. Head to the Starbucks Odyssey website and sign up for the waitlist.

Then, wait for an email invitation to join the Odyssey beta test. Once you receive the message, you need a Starbucks Rewards account and app to use the feature.

Conclusion

By partnering with the Polygon blockchain, Starbucks opens an NFT community and Web 3.0 program. The network uses a proof-of-stake model that consumes less power than other crypto networks.

Other companies have been adapting to Web3 and cryptocurrencies. For example, Tiffany & Co offers NFTiffs, bejeweled representations of CryptoPunk NFTs.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has been using Kandama NFTs to preserve and promote indigenous Ifugao culture. Keep up with the digital trends by following Inquirer Tech.
