It is a pair of wireless on-ear headphones with an air mask attachment. Moreover, the Dyson Zone will become available in the US on March 2023.

Most people recognize Dyson as an air purifier and vacuum cleaner brand. Consequently, it caught attention when it suddenly announced an audio accessory.

Still, the Dyson Zone remains consistent with the brand’s identity due to its air filtration features. It is a pair of headphones, so let us discuss it as an audio accessory.

The company says the Zone contains 11 microphones that monitor sounds 384,000 times per second.

As a result, it reduces background noise by up to 38 decibels (dB). Eight microphones are in the advanced noise canceling (ANC) system.

Two of the mics beamforms noise from the air filtration system, directing the sound to a specific receiving device. Lastly, a single mic detects voice audio for calls.

The Dyson Zone supports Bluetooth 5.0, which facilitates wireless use. Also, it has a USB-C port and a 3.5 mm audio jack for charging.

It runs for 50 hours if you only use it for audio. However, battery life drops to four hours if audio operation and air purification are used simultaneously.

The company says its 2,600mAh lithium-ion battery fully charges within three hours.

Next, let us elaborate on the Dyson Zone’s filter system. It has a face mask attachment that snaps into place using magnets.

Do you remember the two microphones that link to the filters? They help the onboard sensor change the mask’s airflow.

The sensor links to the MyDyson app that lets you monitor nearby air pollution and sound exposure in real time.

Also, it lets you adjust the noise cancellation and filtration features. Dyson claims that the filters can capture up to 99% particle pollution, but they only last 12 months.

The Dyson Zone is a pair of wireless headphones and an air filter rolled into one. It might be useful if you have seasonal allergies or other conditions.

However, the company does not claim that the Dyson Zone can protect against COVID. If you only want an audio accessory, you might want to try other products.

For example, you can grab a pair of AirPods Max for nearly half the price. Check out other fantastic gadgets from Inquirer Tech.
