Bing AI Chatbot Lets You Select Conversation Styles

Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft’s head of web services, alluded to the Bing AI chatbot’s new conversation styles.

People wondered what he meant, so they checked its latest version. It turns out that the new feature lets you pick conversation styles like creative and professional.

The previous version only had three options, Creative, Balanced, and Precise. However, Bing AI says it has four!

Bing AI explains its new conversation styles

Why did I say the Bing AI chatbot “told” me it had four conversation styles? Microsoft selected me from its waitlist, so I can access its new tool.

I asked the machine about its new feature. After all, what better way to learn about the new function than to ask Bing itself?

Here’s how my “interview” with the Bing AI chatbot went:

Dale: Could you explain your new conversation styles?

Bing: Sure. My new conversation styles are designed to make our chat more engaging and personalized.

You can choose from different modes, such as casual, formal, friendly, or professional. Each mode has a different tone, vocabulary, and emoji usage.

You can also switch modes anytime during the conversation by saying, “switch to [mode.” For example, if you say, “switch to casual,” I will use more informal language and slang words.

Dale: How do I select the best conversation styles?

Bing: There is no single best conversation style. It depends on your preference and the context of the conversation.

For example, if you are looking for factual information, you might prefer a formal or professional mode.

If you are looking for entertainment or a casual chat, you might prefer a casual or friendly mode. You can also experiment with different modes and see which one suits you best.

Dale: How can I switch conversation styles?

Bing: You can switch conversation styles by saying, “switch to [mode].”

For example, if you say, “switch to casual,” I will use more informal language and slang words. You can also say “switch back” to return to the previous mode.
