Spotify Clips and Countdown Pages Announced

05:15 AM March 10, 2023

The music streaming service Spotify announced two new features: clips and countdown pages. Both help artists bring their music closer to more people.

Spotify Clips are 30-second videos that work like Tiktok videos and Facebook Stories. Content creators could use them to introduce their music to listeners.

Meanwhile, countdown pages will allow artists to announce and build hype for their upcoming singles or albums. However, Spotify hasn’t released the feature yet.

The music-streaming company explained Clips allow artists to put their music “front and center.” Think of them as advertisements for your content.

You can attach these to your artist profile, song, album, or upcoming release to promote them to people.

As a result, Spotify Clips allow you to drive more streams to your songs and earn more income. Unlike Facebook Stories, they don’t disappear in 24 hours.

You may keep them indefinitely for your fans or make new ones for new listeners. Moreover, Spotify shared a few tips on how you can use Clips.

First, you may share the story behind your song. You could appear in the video and share a heartfelt explanation about your song.

For example, Ed Sheeran said his latest album “-” (pronounced Subtract) is “opening the trapdoor into my soul.”

Second, Spotify Clips may announce your upcoming songs. For instance, you could place a video montage or an abstract visualization to tease their release.

Third, you could discuss your recent collaboration with a fellow artist, songwriter, or producer to build hype for both of your fanbases.

Fourth, you could showcase your new merchandise. If you have new tees, mugs, keychains, or other collectibles, talk about them on your Spotify Clip.

Fifth, Clips can help new artists bring themselves closer to new listeners. Tell people what you’re all about and ask them to try your music.

Start using Spotify Clips by recording a video. It should be a 1280×1080 px MP4 video that lasts between three and 30 seconds,

Then, open the Spotify for Artists dashboard by selecting the Create a Clip card or the Video tab. Next, add video details such as captions, tags, and thumbnails.

Read the Spotify Clips terms & conditions and accept them to launch your first video.

Conclusion

We have many details about Spotify Clips because it is an active feature. On the other hand, the music streaming service hasn’t released Countdown Pages yet.
