What do we know about the upcoming Tesla vehicles?

FEATURED STORIES

Elon Musk excited Tesla fans by confirming the automaker is developing two new cars. “We are actually building a new product. We are actually designing a new product,” he said during his Tuesday shareholder meeting.

“We aren’t sitting on our hands here. There are two new products that I think you will be very excited about,” Musk added. As mentioned earlier, Musk had screens displaying a shadowy image of a Tesla vehicle.

No sources have confirmed these photos at the time of writing. However, the tech leader said his company would reveal the new cars at a dedicated event.

Musk stated he would use design and manufacturing techniques “head and shoulders above anything else” in the car industry. Also, the new Tesla vehicles would be high-volume products, meaning they might have low prices.

“This is just Elon’s guess, so, you know, don’t sue me,” Musk stated. “We’ll probably make in excess of five million units a year of these two models combined.”

Musk mentioned several ideas for what the new models could be. The company said it is working on a robotaxi, a cab that uses artificial intelligence to transport passengers without a driver.

That might be one of the vehicles Musk teased in his shareholder meeting. Moreover, he said he wants to design a $25,000 car, half the price of the $42,990 Tesla Model 3. It could win over 80% of car buyers who couldn’t afford Tesla vehicles.

Also, it could help the company compete against EV makers like BYD. Elon Musk also hinted at the possibility of a Tesla van. Nevertheless, his company must release new vehicles to renew consumer interest in its auto lineup.

What are Tesla’s other projects?

Tesla’s latest confirmed vehicle is Cybertruck. It is a sleek vehicle with sharp edges and a chrome finish, making it look futuristic. Also, Cybertruck has four configurations: single, dual, tri, and 4-motor.

Elon Musk tweeted, “Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat.” Also, he specified, it can “get from Starbase to South Padre Island, which requires crossing the channel.” If true, the vehicle must travel the shortest distance between Tesla’s Spaceport and South Padre Island.

In other words, the Cybertruck should be able to travel roughly 360 meters or 1,100 feet through the water. On November 24, 2022, Musk announced his company’s new self-driving feature in the US.

Follow these instructions to activate this feature:

  1. Go to the Controls menu of your car’s touchscreen.
  2. Next, open the Autopilot settings.
  3. Select the Software and the Additional Vehicle Information options. Alternatively, open the configurations in the Tesla app by tapping the Vehicle and Specs & Warranty options.
  4. Return to the Controls menu if your FSD computer is 3.0 or higher.
  5. Tap the Upgrades tab to see if you can purchase an FSD Subscription.
  6. Then, swipe to confirm your purchase.
  7. You can use Tesla’s self-driving options once you finish downloading and installing.
