/ 01:56 PM March 19, 2024

Watch chefs on TV or online, and you will likely hear them talk about “elevating the culinary experience.” Usually, that means cooking well-known meals in unique ways or using unconventional ingredients to make new dishes.

However, SpaceVIP takes this challenge literally by serving meals 100,000 feet into space!

How will SpaceVIP serve Michelin meals in space?

Forbes says the flights will start in 2025. The six intrepid diners will ride pressurized capsules lifted by a stratospheric space balloon, the Space Perspective.

The flight will last six hours, and participants will have access to Wi-Fi to livestream their experience with friends and family on Earth.

“This announcement has already cast its spotlight on space tourism, and we are thrilled about the dialogue it has started around the importance of space travel,” SpaceVIP founder Roman Chiporukha emailed Forbes.

The founder also said his company hired chef Rasmus Munk to make the out-of-this-world Michelin meals. He has two Michelin stars, and his Copenhagen-based restaurant is one of the five best in the world.

Chiporukha said the “next phase” of the expedition planning process will involve choosing the meals and how chefs will serve them.

He specified that the dishes will draw inspiration from “the role of space exploration over the last 60 years of human history and the impact it has had on society.”

Passengers will also wear custom outfits from French fashion house Ogier that will use “cutting-edge fabric technology” specific to this expedition.

“It is by launching these flights that we will be able to make them accessible to more people,” Chiporukha added.

“Our goal is to increase awareness and bring people together so that, in solidarity, we can come up with solutions that benefit us all.”
