Review: The vivo V30 may be all that you need to capture photos and work like a pro
You know a smartphone is good when it serves every gadget’s actual purpose: to enhance what you can do while skipping any hassle. That’s what vivo’s newest offerings from its flagship V series—the V30 and V30 Pro—are trying to accomplish with features and specs that upgrade the way you work, play, and create.
Luckily, the team was able to do a hands-on review of the vivo V30 Pro, which yielded some interesting results. Check out some of the features that stood out with the reviewers:
Quick unboxing
The box that the vivo V30 Pro comes in is quite large, and for a reason–in part because of the size of the phone, but also because you get a free clear silicone bumper casing for the device, as well as a thickly-insulated USB charging cable, and a bulky charging brick (again, for a reason). The phone still comes with its own ejecting pin for you to be able to insert TWO sim cards (dual sim, for the win). Sadly, though, it no longer comes with a USB-C headphone, nor a dongle for 3.5mm earphones/headphones.
One of the reviewers was able to grip the device comfortably on one hand, but it could be a handful for anyone with smaller digits–a small price to pay for getting a wide screen that shows impressive graphics whichever angle you look at it–at 6.78 inches display, you can go to town with your binge watching.
The vivo V30 Pro is also ‘business in the front, party in the back’–rarely do we see devices designed in a way that allows it to stand out from the rest of the what’s currently on the market. While the black and green ones bring in a classic look, the blue–and most especially the white one–bring in an artful vibe to the unit. We were handed the white variant of the vivo V30 Pro, which shows sheer, petal-like patterns on the back, which add more to its ‘interestingness’.
A picture-perfect camera with tons of features
Continuing the V series’ signature premise of “Portrait Master” smartphones, vivo has partnered with global imaging leader ZEISS to power up the V30 series’ cameras and offer top-quality photography and videography. All certified with ZEISS Optic Standards, the V30 Pro does bring in breathtakingly clear and vivid shots with 50MP resolution across its triple main camera setup—which consists of a True Color Main Camera, Autofocus Ultra Wide-Angle Camera, and Professional Portrait Camera.
Equipped with the vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum (VCS) technology, V30 Pro’s Main Camera offers an upgraded light intake and color accuracy for guaranteed image clarity—even if you’re taking photos at night or in low-light settings, which can be extremely handy for people who live for the evenings.
Meanwhile, its Ultra Wide-Angle Camera pushes the V30 Pro into becoming the perfect phone for group selfies thanks to its 119° field of view that lets you easily fit up to 30 faces in a single frame (trust us–there is a use for this level of group selfie). With a 50mm focal length, its Professional Portrait Camera also delivers realistic and vivid details in every portrait even when using its 2x zoom.
But what makes the V30 Pro’s camera system truly lead the photography scene is its newly upgraded Aura Light Portrait 3.0 technology, which makes any photo look as if it’s taken with a professional lighting setup. With this groundbreaking feature, the V30 Pro can set gentler lighting, tailor brightness based on real-time distance for close-up shots, and adjust color harmony between every picture’s subjects and scenery.
Superb system designed for all-day productivity
It’s safe to say that the vivo V30 Pro has fire power: It has the capability to streamline your tasks thanks to an efficient MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset that runs the V30 Pro’s system. Its powerful 3.1 GHz core enables higher processing speed without compromising a smooth visual experience and energy efficiency thanks to its premium Arm Mali-G610 graphics processing unit.
Speaking of energy efficiency, the V30 Pro is equipped with a robust 5000 mAh battery that stays at peak health and performance for up to four years. Its quick 80W FlashCharge capabilities also make it possible to fully charge this smartphone in just 48 minutes, enabled of course by the charging brick that comes with the phone.
To help extend its long-lasting seamless performance, the V30 Pro also utilizes an Ultra Large Smart Cooling System made with highly efficient heat dissipation materials and built-in temperature sensors to keep your phone from overheating when performing heavy tasks, or when you’re using it in extreme weather conditions, which could be really helpful when you think about it.
Fair price points for a flawless performance
As a mid-range smartphone, the reviewers consider the V30 smartphones to be priced just right at Php 34,999 for the V30 Pro (12+512GB) variant, Php 27,999 for the V30 (12+512GB) variant, and Php 24,999 for the V30 (12+256GB) variant. If you’re looking for a great camera phone that also offers efficient performance and long battery life, the V30 series definitely deliver an excellent payoff for their respective price points.
