The most common way to solve device issues is by turning it off and on again. If your phone still has “No SIM,” try these other methods from Tech Advisor:

  1. Turn Airplane Mode On and Off: Airplane Mode turns off cellular network connections that may interfere with an aircraft’s communication channels. However, turning it on and off again resets your phone’s cellular networks and resolves this issue.
  2. Check the SiM card: Turn off your Android device and remove the SIM card tray. The latter has a button you can push with a thin object, like a pin. Seat the SIM card properly in the tray before re-inserting it into your phone.
  3. Clean the SIM tray: Wipe the tray with a dry cloth to remove dirt clogging its contact points.
  4. Update system software: Open your Android settings to ensure it has the latest firmware update.
  5. Try another SIM card: If the “No SiM” error persists, use another spare SIM card or borrow a friend’s. This method can help you confirm it’s not a hardware issue.
  6. Visit a technician: Your phone might have a hardware issue if it cannot run other SIM cards. Head to your phone brand’s official repair center for assistance.
  7. Contact your telecom provider: Call your network provider to check for account issues. Also, you may request a new SIM card with your existing number.

The previous steps also work for iPhones. However, Lifewire recommends these other tips for the “No SIM” card problem:

  1. Update iOS: iPhones automatically download and install firmware updates. Ensure you have a Wi-Fi connection and decent battery life to allow this process.
  2. Check your phone account: You might have registered an invalid phone company account to your iPhone. Contact your phone company to see whether your account is under suspension, cancellation, or other problems.
  3. Check iPhone carrier settings: You may encounter the “No SIM” issue if your phone company changes the settings for how your phone connects with its network. Install the latest update to restore your phone’s cellular network access.

You may have a similar issue if you recently bought an iPhone 14 or 15. Both models have an eSIM, which is a digital counterpart of the physical one.

The official Apple support page says you should contact your telecom provider to enable eSIM carrier activation. Then, follow these instructions:

  1. Tap Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed once it appears on your iPhone.
  2. Next, open the Settings app and tap Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed.
  3. Tap Continue at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Then, confirm cellular connectivity by making a call. Contact your telecom carrier if you can’t.

Some eSIM plans may replace your physical SIM plan. Remove the physical SIM and then restart your iPhone.
