ChatGPT has a model picker with multiple AI model options. Consequently, the AI firm wants to simplify this feature by unifying its AI offerings.

That’s why it will launch GPT-4.5, codename “Orion,” internally as its last non-chain-of-thought model.

Afterward, OpenAI will consolidate its o-series and GPT-series AI options by creating systems that can use all the tools.

ChatGPT’s free version will get unlimited chat access to GPT-5 at the standard intelligence setting.

Plus subscribers will run GPT-5 at a higher level of intelligence, and Pro subscribers will receive even greater performance.

Moreover, these models will incorporate other OpenAI features like Deep Research and Search.

These changes come at the heels of DeepSeek’s recent emergence.

This Chinese AI model matches and even exceeds the performance of its Western counterparts.

More importantly, it provides these features for free as an open-source model, shaking up the United State’s AI dominance.

Overall, these AI developments reveal that this tech race is far from over.

More countries are entering the global AI race, such as French AI firm Mistral and its Le Chat app.
