Specifically, it will teach digital forensics or computer forensics. It is a field of forensic science that involves the identification, preservation, examination, and preservation of electronic or digital evidence in legal proceedings.
The CICC partnered with a local company, Astria Corporation, to conduct this course.
CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos emphasized digital investigation’s importance in resolving cybercrime cases and convicting cyber criminals.
“With the increase in the cybercrime complaints received by various agencies, it is imperative for us to integrate digital forensics as a cornerstone in the battle against cybercrime,” he said.
“This initiative represents a significant step toward achieving our vision of a safer digital environment for all Filipinos,” he added.
Jonathan Shorter, the Lead Forensic Examiner at Astria Corporation, said digital evidence is essential in cases involving online fraud and transnational cybercrime.
“Our goal through this collaboration is to empower our frontline officers with practical knowledge and the hands-on skills required to effectively seize, preserve, and analyze digital evidence, ensuring its admissibility and integrity throughout the judicial process,” Shorter stated.
