Invy puts on MVP performance against former team, Team Secret

Paper Rex sweep Team Secret

Pinoy pro player Adrian “invy” Reyes went up against his former team, Team Secret, for the first time since joining Paper Rex at the start of the year.

The match started off in Breeze, Team Secret’s map pick. In Paper Rex dominated the first game, winning the map 13-4. 

In the seventh round, invy secured his 2000th kill in VCT, joining an elite group of fraggers. Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie took over with 25 kills and 7 assists with only six deaths, on 372 ACS.

Going over to Split, Team Secret held down their own. After a 9-3 first half, the series looked like it was going to go to a third map.

However, thanks to a big rally from PRX in the second half, they were able to claw back and bring the map to overtime.

With both teams running meta-standard double controller lineups, rounds went down to execution and duels. In the end, Paper Rex were able to string together three straigh rounds to close out the series 18-16.

Invy’s Skye was the MVP of the map, putting up 34/24/9 on 296 ACS.

Global Esports falls to Kiwoom DRX

Both teams came into the match with 2-0 match records. KRX opened with wins against Team Secret and Nongshim RedForce, while Global Esports had sweeps against Gen.G and TS as well.

Starting off, KRX was in the lead early. Despite a successful retake from GE to take the pistol round, the Korean team won the next five rounds thanks to successful duels and executes. 

Global were able to take two retakes to try to regain control, but KRX closed out the half 9-3.

Global Esports opened the second half with pistol and buy round wins, and the two teams traded rounds. 

KRX would shut down GE and close out Fracture 13-8. Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan finished with 25/10/8 on 311 ACS.

GE’s map pick of Haven painted a similar picture. GE wpult start off strong, but KRX would rally in the first half to bring the game to anm 8-4 scoreline. 

The two teams traded rounds again in the second half, but KRX would eventually shut down GE and bring the game to a 13-9 end. Song “HYUNMIN” Hyun-min delivered a classic Jett performance, going 25/16/3 on 334 ACS.

Other matches

FULL SENSE and T1 extended their win streaks to remain their undefeated 6-0 game records. Papaphat “Primmie” Sriprapha and Thanyathon “Leviathan” Nakmee dropped 38 and 39 kills each en route to a 2-0 victory over VARREL. 

T1’s duelist Yu “BuZz” Byung-chul went +16 (43/27/9),  and controller Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom was good for +15 (39/24/26) to shut down RRQ.

DetonatioN FocusMe won against fellow Japanese team ZETA DIVISION in a 2-1 reverse sweep. ZETA handled Bind 13-10 to open the series. 

DFM answered back with a 13-7 counter in Pearl, and closed it out in Pearl 13-5. Yu “akame” Gwang-hui led both teams with 60/42/24 on 274 ACS over the three maps.

Masters winners clashed as Nongshim RedForce took on Gen.G to end Week 3. The young team would prevail in a decisive manner as NS swept GEN, winning Pearl 13-8 and Breeze 13-3. Park “Ivy” Sung-hyeon controlled the series, finishing with 36/19/6 on 262 ACS to snap Nongshim’s losing streak in VCT Pacific Stage 1.
