Apple launches iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max
Apple has updated the iPhone line with the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The Apple Keynote has focused a lot on on-device AI where Siri is font and center. Siri AI’s on device model powers expressive voices allowing you to customize Siri to sound how you like it. Siri AI will be avialable in 16 available languages and Siri AI will be available this October.
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI’s performance has been pushed to the limits with the new A20 Pro chip running on the 2nm chip technology. It comes with a 6 core CPU, claiming to be desktop class with a significantly boosted GPU with a 7 core design. The A20 Pro also comes with a neural engine for AI processes (32 cores) for running advanced on-device models.
The iPhone 18 Pro comes with a better vapor chamber, paired with better thermal management, with 2x better performance than the older iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro’s battery life is newly designed. Despite its smaller design, it delivers the same battery as the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro Max will have 45 hours of battery life.
The iPhone 18 Pro comes with a variable aperture 48MP camera with a new rotor mechanism to adjust aperture, opening to allows 50% more light when in low light. The new Pro controls also allow for “digital negatives” for the pro camera system allowing you to reference original shots when using filters.
The iPhone 18 Pro also has an updated dynamic island, allowing you to see three different activities.
The new iOS 27 also launches with better child safety controls allowing a more streamlined process for parents to get their kids onto a safer onboarding with their iOS device.
Preorders for the new iPhone 18 will begin this September 12.
Apple launches Airpods 5
Apple has also launched Airpods 5 which has an upgraded experience for transparency and active noise cancelling enabled. With the improvements from Siri AI, Airpods 5 comes with live translation as well as an enhanced Siri AI assistant.
Airpods 5 comes with 4 hours listening with ANC. There is also a 5-hour version that comes with a stem.
Apple launches Apple Watch 12 and Ultra 4
Apple has also unveiled the latest series 12 and Ultra 4 with a new health-sensing system. Within the small footprint, the electrodes area has better sensing for health monitoring. It also comes with better heart rate monitoring, even while on the go. Heart rate is measured every 5 seconds as well as HRV every 5 minutes.
Apple claims that Apple Watch has the most accurate heart sensor in a wearable compared to other brands.
One of the new features of the Apple ecosystem is the VO2Max tracking with the Health App. Similar to an executive checkup, Apple Watch and your iPhone guides you for a series of workouts to measure your VO2Max. The iPhone camera tracks your workout while your watch measures your vitals.
Wih Apple Watch, Apple Intelligence also introduces Siri Recap, which is essentially a note-taking app that works as an ambient audio recorder allowing you to recall conversations you had with friends which you can come back to later. Apple does not store recording data nor identify voices for the sake of privacy.
