Apple launches iPhone Duo foldable
Apple CEO John Ternus has unveiled Apple’s first foldable, the iPhone Duo. The iPhone Duo comes with a large 7 inch screen 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro.
iPhone Duo has redesigned several UI elements such as the dock and controls, which have been moved to the side so that when you open and close the device, the control area remains the same.
iPhone Duo reorients itself to vertical and horizontal format depending on how you hold it, whether you are scrolling down a long document or watching a YouTube video.
One of the best features of the iPhone Duo is support for Apple Pencil which will work for both outer and inner screens. In terms of security, there will be no Face ID. Instead, Touch ID will be used to unlock the phone with the side button.
The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip for on-device AI and a vapor chamber that has fit into what Apple says is their thinnest phone ever, when unfolded.
The iPhone Duo is eSIM only, globally. It has over 31 hours of battery when using the inner screen and 44 hours of battery for the outer screen when watching videos.
The iPhone Duo’s Fusion camera comes with the same 48MP camera of the iPhone 18 Pro. The iPhone Duo has a very versatile outer display, allowing you to use it simultaneously with the inner screen especially with video calls as the screen can mirror both sides. The hinge allows for perpendicular use so that you can prop the phone on the table and be used like a laptop.
The iPhone Duo starts at USD $1999. It will be available in October 23 2026.
