Netizens want death penalty back, blast dad who killed 7-year-old daughter

MANILA, Philippines—A flurry of angry reactions from netizens set social media boiling following the death of a seven-year-old child killed by her own father.

On Tuesday, police authorities arrested Marc Alvin Manliclic who stabbed dead his seven-year-old daughter and then posted the pictures of the dead child on his Facebook account in Quezon City.

Netizens created a Facebook community page to seek justice for Angel Mark Cathlene whose throat was slashed by her own father.

Members of the Facebook community also expressed their anger over the child’s death.

“Bring back the death penalty!” Dinah Deluna said.

“The room of fire is waiting for him” Bem Tayag Nanquil said, referring to hell.

Pete Mitchelle said, “Dude, I can’t imagine how [monstrous] you are. One thing is for sure, your conscience won’t give you peace.”

“I just hope that you rot in prison, be beaten up every day by inmates and die an agonizing death after a year,” Frances Marie Cua said.

Meanwhile, netizens Eric Matias and Joy Ibo Better wanted the death penalty back to curb the increasing heinous crimes in our country.

According to them, people nowadays are not afraid to commit heinous crimes because of the lax laws that the Philippines has.

Other netizens blamed the government for the lack of employment in the Philippines, forcing Filipinos to leave their families to work overseas.

Marian Socrates Mandayo said the government should find solutions so that Filipinos would no longer need to work abroad because opportunities are in the country.

The girl’s mother is an overseas Filipino worker. Their distance was usually the subject of the arguments between her parents.

Netizens also expressed grief over her untimely death.

“Rest in peace, Angel. You are now safe. No one will harm you now that you are with our Creator.  Now that you are one of the angels up there, guide your mother for she needs you more today, help her to cope up,” Rivelyn Angulo Panganiban.

Jhecka Jheck Baui said, “Rest in peace baby Angel. You don’t deserve your parents.”

“I pray for the girl’s soul. May God grant her eternal rest in peace. And to the father that you realize what mortal sin you’ve done to the eyes of God and the whole people around the world,” Regil Villanueva said.

After his arrest, Manliclic admitted to murdering his seven-year-old child.
