MANILA, Philippines – Pope Francis posted around noon on Sunday his fourth tweet in Filipino, calling on Christians to “serve the needy.”
Filipino:
Bilang Kristiyano, miyembro ng pamilya ng Diyos, tinatawag tayo upang hanapin at paglingkuran ang lahat ng mga nangangailangan.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) January 18, 2015
English:
We who are Christians, members of God’s family, are called to go out to the needy and to serve them.

“Bilang Kristiyano, miyembro ng pamilya ng Diyos, tinatawag tayo upang hanapin at paglingkuran ang lahat ng mga nangangailangan,” said @Pontifex at 12:32 p.m.
The English translation, posted two minutes earlier, read: “We who are Christians, members of God’s family, are called to go out to the needy and to serve them.”
The tweets were posted soon after the Pope returned to the Apostolic Nunciature on Taft Avenue from the University of Santo Tomas, where he met with religious later and youth representatives.
The @Pontifex Twitter account has five million followers.
The tweets only emphasized further the Pope’s known compassion for the poor.
Earlier on Sunday, during the Meeting of the Youth, the Pontiff also asked in Spanish: “Do you think with the poor? Do you feel with the poor? Do you do something for the poor? Do you ask the poor that they might give you the wisdom that they have? This is what I wish to tell you all today.”
