Five years since starting a ride-hailing app, Uber is set to offer a full-scale meal delivery service to the public in certain US cities by end-March, according to a report.
Based on a Yahoo Finance report quoting a company spokesperson, UberEats app will allow customers to order from full menus of various restaurants and have the food delivered to them quickly by Uber drivers.
The said service will be available in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Austin, Texas. UberEats is set to be offered in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Seattle and Dallas as well.

The service starts when a customer orders from a certain restaurant. Uber will then contact the said establishment and will estimate the time preparation needed. When the Uber predicts that the food is ready for delivery, it will look for a driver near the said restaurant. The decision whether to deliver lies on the said driver.
The estimated delivery fee is $5 per order which may vary depending on the city. The company will share a certain amount of fee with the driver who delivered the food. Similarly, Uber will charge the restaurants a certain fee for every order purchased.
