Dutch company launches ’Internet electric bikes’
Amsterdam-based company VanMoof will launch ’Electrified S’, its remodeled internet-connected electronic bike, and it will be readily available for commercial release next week.
The Electrified S is an improved prototype of the recent VanMoof 10 Electrified, a bike that conquered the 2014 Red Dot Design Award. Electrified S takes a 250W electric motor and battery that can run up to 75 miles (120 km) while the bike frame is amusingly at 40 pounds (18 kgs), two pounds lighter than the VanMoof 10 Electrified. Electrified S takes merely six hours to charge, according to The Next Web.
Article continues after this advertisementWith the pairing of Bluetooth and internet, a biker can lock the bike with a VanMoof application that can be installed on an iOS or Android device, an efficient tool for the biker to control the bike without plugs or wires.
With the 3G chip located inside the bike, the user can lock up, turn on the lights, or adjust the speed settings. Attached to the bike’s body is a built-in touch screen used to manage the bike’s current speed.
When the biker loses track of his direction, the internet-connected electric bike has a Global Positioning System that locates the bike at any place and time, even if the bike is stolen.
