WATCH: HoloLens technology now available for other manufacturers

/ 07:21 PM June 06, 2016

In a bold move, Microsoft has opened up its Windows 10 Holographic platform called HoloLens to other manufacturers, according to an article in The Next Web. Opening up the technology means that we should see numerous HoloLens clones in the market down the road as VR technology matures.

Apart from providing Oculus Rift-style virtual reality, HoloLens is also applicable for augmented reality scenarios, or mixed reality, as Microsoft would prefer to call it.

The company’s goal is to bring various devices and their users into a single mixed platform where virtual and actual reality can be seamlessly integrated.

Other byproducts include more technological choices for consumers, as well as competition among manufacturers that would drive further development of AR and VR technologies. Alfred Bayle
