Apple launches parenting-themed emojis

No words can describe the joy, anxiousness, discomforts and twinges of motherhood. Today, an emoji app can allow mothers to express their emotions in mobile conversations.

EmojiMom, an iOS app planned by Sarah Robinson, Hannah Hudson and Natalie Ralston, is dedicated to working and expectant mothers. Its release co-existed with Apple’s launching of 100 “gender-diverse” and catchy emojis.

It has a keyboard packed with 250 precisely illustrated parenting-themed emojis such as ultrasound image, a hassle mesh underwear, a potty-training baby, diapers and a mom pumping breast milk in an office restroom cubicle.

According to Huffington Post, the three moms conceptualized the idea last year and was finally launched as an app last July 30. The idea began when Robinson experienced “parenting stress” with her infant son, Jack.

“I was getting ready for work — one of my first days back from maternity leave — and my baby peed all over my work outfit,” Robinson recounted to the news site. “It was such a hilarious, frustrating, OK-I-might-break-down-and-cry kind of moment that I texted Hannah and Natalie about it and we all said, ‘Seriously, there ought to be an emoji to describe this feeling.'” Since then, the trio sought the expertise of developer Lauren Burke to make the plan brew into reality.

In an interview with TODAY Parents, Robinson said that their ultimate desire is to make other mothers and pregnant women relate to their simple life struggles in a perky manner. “We want to make people laugh. And, make them feel understood,” Robinson narrated.

EmojiMom is available on iOS app store at $1.99 (P93). It has Instagram and Facebook accounts as well.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
