Footage of a baker spitting on dough in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, has gone viral recently.

On Thursday, Nov. 3, Video Saudi uploaded the loathsome clip on YouTube, exposing the unidentified baker’s nasty habit of spitting on the dough before placing it in the oven. Since then, several social media users shared the video and called on authorities to punish the baker for jeopardizing and risking customers’ health, Al Arabiya reported.

The Gulf Kingdom’s Consumer Protection Association has informed Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to act upon the case.

The baker, who will face criminal charges, is now detained by authorities and will undergo “medical examinations.”  His bakery was shut down as well.

Several Arab users expressed their disgust on Twitter, explaining that labor exploitation, meager wages and pitiful working conditions might have impelled the baker to do it.
