An “illusion” has turned into a Twitter obsession for many when one user posted a picture of her manicure last week.

Despite thousands of artsy manicure selfies scrambled across social media, the photo posted by Larose419, whose name is “Vicky,” has turned heads on the social networking site these past few days, racking up 4,600 retweets and 5,700 reactions as of Monday.

“Just got my nails done,” she wrote, along with a snapshot of her nails painted with baby pink polish. However, Twitter users noticed “something missing,”  which was apparently one of her fingers.

Several Twitter citizens, chiefly those who spoke French, started sharing their own “four-finger” portraits after.

Even one user masked not only one but two fingers.

While several users posted their “four-finger” tricks, other “baffled” users ridiculed the craze by completely “depleting” their hands.

How did they do that? This is the mystery unfolded: Vicky is double-jointed, enabling her to tuck her index finger underneath her other fingers and conceal it from her snapshot. Double-jointedness, also known as hypermobility, is characterized when someone possesses malleable fingers, such as bendable thumbs. Gianna Francesca Catolico
