Mannequin Challenge is latest craze to hit social media

If you’re an avid internet and social media user, you’ve probably stumbled upon viral posts of short freeze-frame clips where people stay still and do nothing.
The latest craze to hit social media, the Mannequin Challenge has groups of people, mostly composed of students, posing like lifeless figurines.
Unlike previous trends where people were required to be as thin as an A1 paper, eat a cob of corn using drill or be drenched in iced water, this latest Challenge simply urges netizens to make as little effort as possible.

Using creative locations and dramatic poses, people of the internet are posting their own renditions with hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd “Black Beatles” playing in the background.
The first clip with the hashtag #MannequinChallenge was posted by a group of students at Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida, according to a cnet.com report.
The simple yet engaging dare became quite a hit in the US, and high school football teams all over the nation began sharing their own renditions.
Even several squads from the National Football League (NFL) joined in on the fun while inside their respective locker rooms, while members of the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) froze time with their best poses during a flight.

The craze even reached Hollywood and even reunited an iconic female group.
