WATCH: Ghost Fighter’s Toguro brothers featured in mobile game ad

Japanese anime “Yu Yu Hakusho,” more popularly known as “Ghost Fighter” in the Philippines, remains as one of the most iconic shows of the ’90s era.

As part of the promotion for an upcoming mobile crossover game between the famed series and “Monster Strike,” a 50-second commercial featuring the muscular-enigmatic villain, along with his equally sinister older brother, was uploaded on YouTube.

Japanese comedian Naoki Matayoshi portrayed the older brother perched atop the vast shoulders of a lifelike statue of Toguro, who was busy playing the game on his smartphone.

The short skit also introduced a fictional new character called Big Sister, played by Oniyakko Tsubaki, who appeared to get agitated over her youngest brother’s impassive and silent demeanor.

The older Toguro, meanwhile, comically sobs since he is not part of the characters available in the game.

Aside from acting, Matayoshi is also known as a successful novelist. His original work “Hibana” (“Spark”) is Japan’ best-selling book in 2015 and has been adapted into a 10-episode series by Netflix.

Tsubaki, on the other hand, has been praised by Yu Yu Hakusho fans for her cover of of the show’s opening theme, “Hohoemi no Bakudan” (“Bomb of Smiles”).  Khristian Ibarrola
