/ 10:44 AM December 21, 2016

A Facebook post of a “dispirited” and reckless bus driver terrified passengers and netizens recently.

Facebook user Barbie Yves Trinidad shared her scary commuting experience with a Genesis Transport bus that she rode in from Paniqui, Tarlac on Friday, Dec. 16, at around 3 p.m.

“Akala ko sa social media ko lang makikita yung gantong eksena, pero ako pala mismo makakaranas (I thought I would only see scenes like this on social media. But now, I myself have experienced it),” she said.

“Bumubusina kahit walang binubusinahan at preno ng preno, halatang ginigising niya sarili niya o di siya mapakali, akala ko ako lang ang nakakapansin, pero pag lingon ko, lahat ng pasahero nakatayo na at naguusap usap,” she added. (He [driver] kept on blowing the horn for no apparent reason, and was braking intermittently. He was obviously trying to make himself awake or he was restless. I thought I was the only one who noticed it, but when I turned my back, other passengers were standing and chatting .)

The conductor and other worried passengers checked on the driver if he was drunk or ill, but the driver grumbled and yelled at them to move to another bus. They all disembarked from the Mariveles, Bataan-bound bus in San Fernando, Pampanga.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Genesis Transport apologized to Trinidad and other affected passengers, assuring them that they were dealing with the issue with care and concern. “As of yesterday morning, December 19, the driver in question has been temporarily relieved of his duties and immediately placed under investigation by our Human Resources and Legal Departments,” it said.

Trinidad replied to the Genesis post, saying that her viral post was not intended to attack the bus line or the driver’s reputation. “Kasi kanina lang, Genesis ulit sinakyan ko, at napaka-safe naman pagmamaneho nila (In fact, just a while ago, I again rode a Genesis bus and found it to be very safe),” she commented.

“Wala akong balak ipa-viral or anything itong post na ‘to at mas lalong wala akong balak manira ng buhay o trabaho o pamilya. Ang akin lang wag na sana maulit (I have no intention to make this post viral or anything and, most of all, I have no plans to destroy the life, work or family [of the driver]. All I wish is that this will not happen again).”  Gianna Francesca Catolico
