Watch: Pokémon theme drum cover performed in virtual reality

It appears there really is no stopping virtual reality now. In the future, training for martial arts and practicing for instruments may be done completely in VR ala the Matrix, with people just coming out of their systems exclaiming “I know kung fu.”

For now, we have drummer and developer Emre Tanirgan playing a cover of the Pokemon theme on VR app Paradiddle, reports The Next Web.

Other similar VR apps appear to be in the works, including Rock Band VR which is scheduled for release this year on the Oculus Rift.

Current VR equipment is still a little pricey, so setting one up at home could amount to the same price as buying the instruments. Once the technology gets cheaper, musicians may one day be able to practice to their heart’s content without waking up the neighbors in the dead of night. Alfred Bayle
