Following positive feedback since the launch of the PlayStation VR, Sony is expanding functionality to include YouTube videos in the virtual reality experience.

Owners of the PlayStation VR will be able to view 360-degree video content on YouTube through the latest software update which has been released today.

TechRadar reports that not all users may get the update automatically and may be required to manually download the YouTube 1.09 app to enjoy a “PlayStation VR version” mode as opposed to the “normal version” where users will simply have a virtual widescreen from which to watch YouTube content.

PS VR is in an interesting position of being more affordable than its PC counterpart, and is already well supported by a commendable catalogue of game titles. Opening up more free content that users can enjoy on the net just makes the deal a little bit sweeter. Alfred Bayle
