WATCH: Filipino pen drummer amazes The Chainsmokers

YouTuber Dineson Cañeda was just a young kid enjoying his quirky talent of drumming pop anthems with his pens. Months later, his passion for pen percussion caught the eye of The Chainsmokers.

Cañeda uploaded a clip of himself beating to the tune of the DJ duo’s “Don’t Let Me Down” using his fists and a pair of pens last March. His video racked up over 4 million views and a round of compliments from internet users.

But on Tuesday, The Chainsmokers, a team steered by Drew Taggart and Alex Pal, shared Cañeda’s video on their Facebook page. “You work with what you got! Respect this legend,” they captioned their post. With an upbeat tone, Cañeda replied to them, “Thank you very much, Chainsmokers. It really made my dream come true.”

“Much love, you killed it,” they replied to Cañeda.

Cañeda’s YouTube page is followed by 88,000 people and some of his covers include Marshmello’s “Alone” and two of The Chainsmokers’ other chart-toppers, “Inside Out” and “Closer.”
